A Great War casualty pair to Rifleman J. Fergie, Royal Irish Rifles, who was killed in action on the First Day of the Battle of the Somme

James Fergie was born at Larne and enlisted at Ballyclare, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. He entered the war in France on 4 October 1915 and was killed in action on 1 July 1916, whilst serving with the 12th Battalion. Fergie is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Robert Fergie of 5, Bay View, Larne Harbour, County Antrim, Northern Ireland; sold together with an aluminium dog tag.
