John Hartley Lord was born at Colne, Lancashire on 16 June 1891. He joined Pembroke on 2 August 1914 as a Senior Reserve Attendant R.N.A.S.B.R.. and served at the Chatham Hospital between 5 August 1914 - 13 February 1915. He served on the Hospital Ship Somali between 17 February 1915 - 2 September 1915 and spent the remainder of his service on Pembroke I between 3 September 1915 - 14 April 1919.
