The Royal Welsh Fusiliers Transfer-in-Register Book No.15 have Thorne joining their ranks from the General Service Corps on 29 November 1945.

The Palestine 1945-48 roll for this medal notes him as T/14473007 Cpl R. Thorne of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers as Fusilier att. Royal Warwickshire Regt 18.3.48 - 16.5.48 with his address as 3 Supply Reserve Depot, Norton Fitzwarren, Taunton, Somerset.

Possibly a unique award to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers as the regiment were not deployed to Palestine.
