General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Palestine (Capt. J. M. Clift. R. Hamps.), light contact marks, very fine
John Montford Clift was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Hampshire Regiment on 30 August 1929 and served with the 1st Battalion in Palestine at the rank of Captain. Clift attended the United Services Point-to-Point held at Larkhill in March 1953, on the same occasion when The Queen and Prince Philip also turned out, being photographed in The Tatler. Finally retired in the rank of Colonel on 15 July 1959, he latterly became the Curator of the Hampshire Regimental Museum; sold with copied roll extracts.
