Canadian Memorial Cross, G.V.R. (438801 Spr. R. Fergie), in case of issue, extremely fine

Robert Fergie was born on 31 January 1892. He attested on 19 December 1914, arrived in England on 13 September 1915 and embarked for France on 2 April 1916, finally being discharged on 28 March 1919. He died on 9 August 1939.

It appears from the service records that his medals were despatched and possibly two Memorial Crosses were given to his widow and his mother.

Sold with a letter dated 4 November 1939 from the Department of National Defence (Canada) to Mrs Sarah Fergie, 5 Bay View, Bay Road, Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, which states that the death of her son was as a result of his previous military service.
