The East African Railways employed many individuals with civilian trades (a number from Indian railway companies) to maintain the vital strategic railway lines during the East African campaign, with the most famous of these undoubtedly being the Uganda Railway - otherwise known as the 'Lunatic Line'. The professions shown on these medals include 'Moulder'; 'Carpenter'; and 'Leading Fitter'; sold together with individual name plaques for display.
