(x) The 1914 Star awarded to Private J. Heffernan who suffered from frostbite and later received two gunshot wounds in November 1917

1914 Star (11396 Pte J. Hefferman. R. Ir: Fus.), good very fine

James Heffernan enlisted on 4 December 1912 and saw service overseas in France from 19 August 1914 and is entitled to the clasp. He is admitted to 2nd General Hospital on 6 January 1915 with frostbite and again to 18th General Hospital on 24 November 1917 having received a severe gunshot wound to the left hand and another to his upper extremities.

Further entitled to Silver War badge B.48534, he was discharged on 26 November 1918. His MIC notes him originally as Hefferman with the 'm' being crossed out and changed to 'n'. Whilst his Silver War badge entry has him listed as James Hefferan.
