The James Song FRPSL Large Gold Medal Collection of The Chin Hills District
After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. McCall, District Commissioner, Lushai Hills at Aijal.
The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India.
By July stamps overprinted "service"
had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved

1942 (17 June) brown OHMS envelope (255x115mm.) to Falam, bearing 1a. purple-brown with type-written "ohms" on 1a. purple-brown (Type 4) neatly tied by double-ring c.d.s. and showing arrival datestamp (18.6) on reverse. The earliest known cover from Haka to Falam. Photo
