The James Song FRPSL Large Gold Medal Collection of The Chin Hills District
After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. McCall, District Commissioner, Lushai Hills at Aijal.
The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India.
By July stamps overprinted "service"
had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved

1943 (2 Apr.) brown OHMS envelope (255x115mm.) registered to the Director of Supply, Burma in Calcutta, bearing India 1937 ½a. red-brown and 1943 3a. violet (2) tied by "falam/reg" double-ring d.s., showing provisional registration label with arrival datestamp (8.5) on reverse; the envelope with central vertical fold. A rare usage of Indian stamps with about six covers recorded. Photo
