1840 (10 Jan.) entire letter from Aberdeen to Hathersage with on the reverse despatch datestamp, on the front red handstruck "1" inked notation with adjacent arrival paid (11.1) handstamp. With most interesting content ...and this being the commencement of the Penny Postage, I am tempted to send you a line or two... A few usual archival folds not detracting. A very scarce entire mentioning the first day of the introduction of the Uniform Penny Postage. Photo
