Postal History
1839 (c.) Mercantile Committee on Postage, Uniform Penny Postage printed circular double page, each (c.207x254mm) printed on the first page only, with interesting content:
...the debate in The House of Commons last night (The 5th) on the subject of the Uniform Penny Post, are under very serious apprehensions that various circumstances may cause the postponement of this great and highly important measure, unless an instant expression of public feeling is make of the wishes of the Country to obtain the Penny post without delay.. bearing the printed signature of George Moffat, the Hon. Treasurer and with Henry Cole's pencil '67' page number at top right, some usual overall light staining not detracting the importance of this historical document. Photo
