Great Britain: Gaumont-British Picture Corporation Ltd., £1 5½% preference shares, 19[36] to 19[42], 13 examples and ordinary shares, 19[51], green (damaged); together with British Lion Film Corporation Ltd., ordinary stock, 5 examples dated 19[48] and 19[49], blue, and British Talking Pictures Ltd., 19[29], green, 2 examples. Gaumont was the British branch of the French film company Gaumont. Gained independence in 1922 following Isidore Ostrer's acquisition of the majority of shares. The company's Lime Grove Studios produced Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 version of The 39 Steps, and The Lady Vanishes in 1938. Acquired by the Rank Organisation in 1941. Generally VF (21).
