Spain & Rhodesia: Rio Tinto Company Limited, an important archive of unissued certificates comprising 1 share (21), yellow, 5 shares (19), blue, 10 shares (20), red and 25 shares (20), green, all printed by Waterlow & Sons, with coupons 49-96, undated but capital shown as £3,750,000 which dated them to 1929. Together with cancelled certificates for 1 share (8) and 5 shares (1), some with added date of 1959. Also included are quantities of replacement coupon sheets for both ordinary and preference bearer warrants with numbers from 97 onwards. The company was formed to acquire the huge Rio Tinto complex in Huelva, Spain but later expanded into Rhodesia and other countries as the Spanish property became more difficult to work. Merged in 1952 to form Rio Tinto Zinc. See other lot in sale. Mostly EF and a superb lot as hardly any paper from this company has been seen.
