Irish Civil War, James II (1689-1691), 'Gunmoney' Crown, 1690, overstruck on large size 'Gunmoney' Halfcrown, October 1689, James on horseback riding left, horse's mane only visible at the top of neck, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, grained edge, 14.05g, 1h (Spink 6578), much of original hoist coin still visible, especially to the legends and portrait, the overstruck central devices clearer, once pierced and now jagged to the edge, otherwise a mostly pleasing brown to the fields, about very fine; and 'Gunmoney' Halfcrown, small size, May 1690, laureate head left, rev. crown with crossed sceptres, grained edge, 9.40g, 12h (Spink 6580B), flat to the devices, fine; and 'Gunmoney' Halfcrown, small size, [May] 1690, laureate head left, rev. crown with crossed sceptres, grained edge, 9.56g, 12h (Spink 6580B), flat and tooled below the bust, fair; and 'Gunmoney' Shilling, large size, August 1689, laureate head left, rev. crown with crossed sceptres, obliquely milled edge, 5.07g, 12h (Spink 6581B), pitted, fine; another, [July] 1689, laureate head left, rev. crown with crossed sceptres, reads JO, 4.34g, 11h (Spink 6581), pierced at 12 o'clock and pitted, about very fine; and Siege of Limerick (1690-1691), Halfpenny, 1691, laureate and draped bust left, rev. Hibernia seated left, holding cross, reversed N in HIBERNIA, obliquely milled edge, 6.61g, 12h (Spink 6594), legends double struck and soft in parts and usually encountered, near very fine (6)
