Scotland, Charles I (1625-1649), Third Coinage, Briot's Issue, Forty Pence, Type I, undated, crowned bust to left, XL behind, rev. crowned thistle, SALVS in legend, 1.56g, 6h, (B. 14, fig. 1013; Spink 5575-5577), struck slightly off-centre, thus no B visible, adjustment marks through the flan, otherwise with a pleasing lustre to uniformly grey-toned surfaces, good very fine
