Iron Age Britain, a Miscellany (4), including: Staters. Uninscribed Issues (2), Durotriges, 'Cranborne Chase' Type, degraded laureate head of Apollo right, rev. disjointed horse left, pellet below, [Spink XRF: 77.68% CU; 22.04% Ag; 0.28% Ga), 3.45g, 6h (VA 1235-1; BMC 2525-2546; ABC 2157; Spink 365), an evident field find ith small deposits in recesses, otherwise lightly porous, very fine and largely centred; also, Iceni, Contemporary Forgery of a 'Norfolk Wolf' Stater, devolved head right, rev. wolf standing left, [Spink XRF: 82.21% Cu; 13.85% Ag; 3.94% Au], 3.57g, 12h (VA 610-3; BMC 218-278; ABC 1399; Spink 31), porous and evidently debased with only residual gilding extant, about good; also, Catuvellauni, Addedomaros (c. 45-25 BC), AV Quarter-Stater, 'X-Box Type', probably struck in Trinovantian Territory, interlocking back-to-back crescents, rev. small horse right 'x-box' design below, various ring and dot motifs in surrounding fields, ADDEDOMAROS before, [Spink XRF: 52.03% Au; 38.44% Ag; 7.87% Cu; 1.66% Fe), 1.25g, 9h (VA 1638; BMC 2422-2423; ABC 2520; Spink 205), of paler silver-gold fabric on an irregular elliptical flan, otherwise uniform for strike, very fine, very rare; probably founmd around Newbury (Berkshire); lastly, Cunobelin (AD 9-40), AR Unit, 'Sphinx' Type, winged and draped bust right, CVNO before, rev. Sphinx seated left, TASCIO before, [Spink XRF: 95.87% Ag; 2.10%% Cu; 1.03% Fe; 0.78% Au; 0.224% Pb), 1.06g, 2h (VA 2057; BMC 1874-1878; ABC 2870; Spink 313), light porosity on a darkly field-toned and elliptical flan, otherwise struck details about very fine, scarce; a most impressive academic group! (4)
