The War Medal awarded to Sergeant C. A. Venn, Royal Air Force, a Hurricane Pilot who was killed when his aeroplane flew into the sea during target practice on Pembrey Firing Range on 24 February 1941

Charles Albert Venn was born on 7 December 1914 at Penarth, he was an Engineer by profession before the war, and gained his Flying Certificate on 17 November 1938 at Cardiff Aeroplane Club on a D.H.Moth.
The entry for the 21st February 1941 for 79 Squadron states:
A Flight did no operational flying. At 15.20 hours Sgt. Venn crashed into the Sea whilst doing Air Firing and was unfortunately killed.
He was the son of Charles Edward and Alice Edith Venn of Penarth, Glamorgan and is remembered in the Pembrey (St. Illtyd) Churchyard.
