King's South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (1908 Pte A. Webster. Shrops: L.I.), good very fine

Arthur Webster was born at Newbold, Chesterfield, Derbyshire in 1868 and attested with the Shropshire Light Infantry on 30 January 1886. With them he saw service in Malta, Egypt and Hong Kong, before returning to Britain where he served for six years. Entering the Anglo-Boer War on 7 March 1900 he was serving near Braakfontein in August 1900 when the Battle of Elands River was fought. Around this time Webster went missing, returning to British lines on 18 August, two days after the Battle ended.
