Queen's Sudan 1896-98, no clasp (3827. Pte. G. B. Foster. 1/Lin: R:), contact marks, edge bruise, nearly very fine
George Barty Foster was born at Portland, Lincolnshire in 1873 and attested for the Lincolnshire Regiment at Huddersfield on 11 January 1894. Serving with the Battalion at Malta he was later posted to join Expedition assembling in Egypt to retake the Sudan. Notably prior to the commencement of action he received a certificate in Mounted Infantry, possibly a role he undertook in the Sudan. Foster served with his Battalion during this campaign and was present for the heavy fighting at Atbara and Omdurman (Medal). Surviving the fighting he was posted to India in 1898 before returning to Britain for discharge in 1906.
