James Seagrave attested into the 73rd Foot on 22 September 1854, he sees service at the Cape of Good Hope, East Indies, China, Singapore and Ceylon serving over 11 years abroad. He is confirmed on the roll for the Indian Mutiny medal serving with Brigadier Rowcroft's Force and was discharged on 24 February 1877.
