Victory Medal 1914-19 (27370 Pte. 1. F. W. Bird. R.A.F.), minor contact wear overall, very fine

Frederick William Bird was born at Bedfont, London in 1885 and enlisted with the Royal Flying Corps on 29 April 1916 as Air Mechanic Class II. Entering the war in France on 20 October 1916 he was re-classified as a Private Class I on the formation of the Royal Air Force in March 1918. Bird saw service with the Home Establishment after hostilities, being re-classed as Leading Aircraftman on 1 September 1919.
