Victory Medal 1914-19 (1035 Spr. W. Blair. R.E.), polished, very fine
William Blair was born at St George, Renfrewshire, Scotland and enlisted with the Renfrew (Fortress) Companies, Territorial Force on 17 March 1911. Re-engaging on 28 July 1914 he signed his declaration of service before Captain H. M. Hodgart officer commanding the Renfrew (F) Works Company, R.E. was thus part of the mobilisation in 1914. entering the war on 20 December 1915 (Star).
Blair served in France for the duration of the war suffering a gunshot wound to the right leg on 12 May 1917 while serving with No. 406 Field Company (previously 1/1 Renfrew). He was demobilised on 1 March 1919.
Further entitled to the Territorial Efficiency Medal and Territorial Force War Medal.
