British War Medal 1914-20 (225889 Pte. J. H. Richer. 78-Can.Inf.), minor contact wear, very fine

James Henry Richer was born at Manchester, England on 8 May 1895 and moved to 238 King Street, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Attesting with the Canadian Mounted Rifles Richer was later posted to the 78th (Winnipeg Grenadiers) Battalion, Canadian Infantry in France. Seeing heavy fighting during the war he was twice wounded, once by shrapnel on 29 October 1917 and again by a gunshot wound on 18 January 1918. Discharged on 30 July 1919 at No. 2 District Depot, Toronto.
