1914-15 Star (3051 Pte. W. F. Oldfield. Manch: R.), nearly extremely fine

Wallace Furniss Oldfield was born in 1890, the son of Thomas and Henrietta Oldfield of Rocky Bank, Waddington, Clitheroe, Lancashire. Entering the war in the Balkans on 18 August 1915 (British War and Victory Medals) with 1/7th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He came down with dysentery in October and was transported to Alexandria, arriving there on 12 October. Oldfield died at the 19th General Hospital that same day and was buried at Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery.
