1914-15 Star (165 L/Cpl. H. J. Atkinson 5-Lond. R.), extremely fine

Harry John Atkinson was born 9 July 1894 and lived at 97 Calton Avenue, Dulwich and was student at Alleyn's until 1912. Whilst there he was a School Prefect, a House Prefect and House Captain for Brown's, in the cricket and football XI and an excellent shot.

Atkinson first served overeas in France from 6 June 1915 and was subsequently commissioned 2nd Lieutenant into the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry on 3 October 1915. He was killed in action on the 17 August 1916, and is buried in the Delville Wood Cemetery, Longuevall.
