India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, North West Frontier 1908 (7547 Pte. L. Pendergast 1st R. War. R.), suspension slack, very fine
Lawrence Pendergast was born at Bury, Lancashire in 1882 and worked as an electrician whilst also serving with the 5th (Militia) Battalion, Royal Warwick Regiment prior to enlisting in 1900. He entered the war in South Africa with the 4th Battalion and served there until the end of the conflict, being transferred to the 1st Battalion on 13 October 1902. Posted to India the same day he served out there for over six years, returning to Britain on 23 October 1908 where he joined the Army Reserve. Pendergast was finally discharged on 9 December 1912.
