William III (1694-1702), Great Recoinage, Shilling, 1697, London, third laureate bust variety right, rev. crowned cruciform shields, six strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 6.09g, 6h (ESC 1108; Bull 1132; Spink 3511), light adjustment to French shields and the surfaces upset by consistent surface flecking, struck with aging dies resulting in softness to highest relief of portrait, otherwise striking lustrous and handsomely fresh, near extremely fine and much as issued
