U.S.A: Hercules Motors Corporation, Ohio, a specimen certificate for less than 100 shares, common stock, undated but 1923 or later, eagle at top, green and black, printed by the Security Bank Note Company, overprinted SPECIMEN in red. Founded in 1915 as Hercules Motor Manufacturing Company to build engines for trucks and goods vehicles. Reorganised as this in 1923. Made a significant contribution to the war effort supplying 750,000 engines for military vehicles, ships and equipment. Bought out by the Hupp Corporation in 1961 which in turn was purchased by White Truck. Defunct in 1999. EF and rare.
