Sikh Empire, Ranjit Singh (VS 1856-96; 1799-1839), Nanakshahi Rupee, Amritsar, VS 1869, leaf on reverse, single line in legend, face to right of leaf and sunflower below (Herrli 01.07.04; Gurprit Singh 01.37.03, KM 20.1), with no less than ten shroff marks on edge, nine of which are different, a single obverse test punch and two reverse punches, very fine / about very fine

The shroff marks on the edges of these coins are interesting in their own right. They show that the coins have passed through many hands and been tested and verified by different authorities. For some series of coins these marks are becoming the subject of research in their own right, and it cannot be long before the marks on Sikh coins come under similar scrutiny.
This coin is a good example with no less than nine different marks. It also has the advantage of having an extra 'star' or 'sunflower' symbol by the leaf.
