Lot: 322

Sikh Empire, Ranjit Singh (VS 1856-96; 1799-1839), Morashahi Rupee, Amritsar, VS 1862 (1805), fish within legend to left, rev. with mora (peacock) symbol in adapted letter ka, with spread tail above (Herrli 01.11.04; Gurprit Singh 01.31.01 (plate coin for this type); KM 20.4), a couple weak areas both sides, but otherwise as struck, uncirculated and a very rare type

On this particular coin most of the peacock is clear, so this example is the true mora shahi type. The difference can be seen by comparing with the previous lot, 321. In fact, Gurprit Singh describes this particular type as having two peacocks, although the second is difficult to see (refer to 'Coins of the Sikhs' p.96).
