[C.G.M.] confirmed upon Service Record '....for service in Egypt' and confirmed on 19 January 1883.
Thomas William Holdstock was born at Kennington, London on 4 February 1853 and enlisted at Woolwich on 4 September 1867. He saw active service in Egypt and Sudan (Medal & 3 clasps, Khedive's Star), with his Medal & Tel-el-Kebir clasp being presented by Queen Victoria at Windsor Castle on 21 November 1882. Duly rewarded with the C.G.M. in early 1883, Holdstock returned to the fold and earned a further 2 clasps to his Medal and was eventually discharged on 17 February 1894.
