Archibald Henry Crawley served in France with the Royal Garrison Artillery from 23 April 1915 and was decorated by the King of the Belgians whilst with the 16th Siege Battery and added a 'mention' by War's end (London Gazette 7 July 1919, refers). Returned to the fold at home during the Second World War, he rose to be Acting Chief Inspector of the War Department Constabulary.
