Harry Maynard was born on 17 June 1884 and lived at 33 Parsonage Road, Eastbourne and first travelled through France in November 1915 but was adjudged as not entitled to the 1915 Star. He was commissioned from the ranks and went to the Western Front in March 1916. Interestingly his MIC notes 'Exonerated Officers List' for he was taken a Prisoner of War on 30 November 1917 at Gonzecourt, Le Cateau.
