Andrew Calderwood was born at Dreghorn, Ayrshire on 24 December 1890, the son of David and Margret Calderwood. Working as a Miner prior to enlistment Calderwood's service number is indicative of 'Z' Special Company. This unit dealt with chemical weapons specifically Livens projectors and flamethrowers. Calderwood died at Ayrshire in 1950; sold together with copied research including census data, medal roll and a photograph.
