Thomas William Adams was born in 1884 and lived at 124 Worthing Road in Lowestoft before attested with the Royal Garrison Artillery on 19 November 1915. Mobilised on 3 June 1916 he was posted to No. 1 Depot, Royal Garrison Artillery. From there Adams was sent first to 180 Heavy Battery on 24 June and the next month to 182 Heavy Battery on 18 July. This unit entered the war in France on 29 September 1916, promoted Acting Lance-Bombardier on 23 April 1917 he served in that rank until 6 January 1919 when he reverted to a Gunner. Adams was demobilised on 2 May 1919.
