Gilbert George Conquest Freeman served in France in the ranks of the 14th Battalion, London Regiment (London Scottish) from 18 March 1915 (1914-15 Star). He was subsequently commissioned and served as a Lieutenant in the 23rd Battalion, Middlesex Regiment.
