Napoleonic Wars
The Battle of Waterloo
1815 (18 June) letter signed on "3 Arrondissement Militaire" headed paper, penned on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo, written to the Lieutenant Governor of Gand requesting coaches and thirty-three horses for the King. This was almost certainly to allow King Louis XVIII and his family to escape to Ghent in the event of Napoleon's victory. Some minor foxing to paper, currently mounted in card mount though a hugely significant document.
