1871 Typhoid. The Prince of Wales contracted the disease while at a house party and was dangerously ill at his Sandringham Estate. Superbly bound volume with gilt lettering and the Prince of Wales's feathers titled "Bulletins / Illness of H.R.H. The Prince of Wales / December 1871 / John Pearson Esq /Mayor" containing 63 telegrams on flimsy paper, laid down, as despatched by the Press Association and other news agencies, reporting on the progress of the Prince of Wales, dated from 9 December 1871 to 14 January 1872, by which time he was out of danger. Together with a letter to John Pearse, late Mayor of Liverpool, forwarding "the accompanying collection of Bulletins, which will bring to mind the sorrow and joy felt by your worship".
