1889 Autograph letter signed in full "Victoria R.I.", written on mourning notepaper from Osborne House, Isle of Wight, to Lady Rosslyn, expressing her happiness that Lord Rosslyn had recovered from an illness and mentioning "my poor dear daughter, the Empress Frederick" whose husband the Kaiser had died the previous year, having reigned for 99 days. A rare letter signed in full, at this stage the Queen generally initialled her autograph letters "VRI", or wrote in the third person.
