1870 (20 Sept.) envelope addressed to "R.N. Acutt, Tatin Goldfields, care of F.W. Reid, Potchefstroom", bearing 1869 6d. violet overprinted "postage" (Type 7a) with indistinct cancel and showing, on reverse, Pietermaritzburg and Potchefstroom datestamps. A rare early incoming Rhodesia pioneer cover to the then BSAC district and one of five recorded by Keith Klugman with this stamp to the Tati Goldfields. Note: King Mzilikazi had prohibited gold mining in his domains, His son Lobengula relaxed this ban in the Tati district. He granted a concession to Sir John Swinburn's London and Limpopo Gold Mining Co. Soon however funds of this company became exhausted as the gold proved unpayable.
