1852 Scinde Dawk
The Extraordinary Unused ½a. Scarlet
An unusually fine example free from the faults associated with the issue, "apparently unused" as described by its B.P.A. Certificate; one or two minor faults: tiny omissions in the wax impression and surface abrasions otherwise a complete and crisp impression, a small paper adhesion remains on the reverse illustrating that the seal was applied to a document though never cancelled, it is now lightly mounted to presentation card and offered as such.

As few as three known, this being the superior, ex. Maurice Burrus discovery example of 1963 when it sold for £950. A wonderful opportunity to acquire surely the most important item of the issue and of classic Indian philately. B.P.A. Certificate (1964). S.G. S3, unpriced

provenance:
Robson Lowe , Burrus, 1963 (Nov.)

Notes: Belying its Stanley Gibbons catalogue number, it is believed that the ½a. scarlet was in fact the first such seal in use.

Subject to 5% tax on Hammer Price in addition to 20% VAT on Buyer’s Premium.
