Guatemala: Chama Company, pair of certificates for $50 shares, common stock, 18[98], #55 and preference stock, 18[98], #42, both signed by Leon J. Dutton as president and both issued to him, the first also signed on the reverse, black on white and pink paper respectively, arms top left. Formed in 1897 to acquire the Chama Plantation lands in Guatemala for growing coffee, chocolate and rubber. Offices in Camden, New Jersey. Leon Dutton, was also a director of several Ralroads. He organised an expedition of archaeologists from Philadelphia to explore the Mayan ruins which lay close to the plantation. Both VF and scarce (2).
