Great Britain: Grand Junction Water Works, £50 additional share, 18[17], #3553, black printing, on vellum, red paper seal. Formed in conjunction with the Grand Junction Canal in 1811 to supply water in West London originally taking water from the rivers Colne and Brent. The water was found to be of poor quality so a new supply was drawn from the Thames at Chelsea. Became part of the Metropolitan Water Board in 1903. 1500 of these additional shares were created in 1816 to expand the works. GVF.
