Great Britain: East London Water Works, stock certificate for £[75], 1860, #338, black , embossed seal at left depicting Neptune. Incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1806, one of 8 water companies suplying London. In 1866 during a serious outbreak of cholera where nearly 6000 Londoners died it was found guilty of supplying contaminated water. Eventually taken over by the Metropolitan Water Board in 1903. A later but scarce issue. VF.
