Great Britain: W.T.Henley's Telegraph Works Co. Ltd., £5 first preference shares, 1[900], #1429, handsigned by Sir Henry M. Stanley as director, capital increase overprinted, black. Cable manufacturer based in Woolwich, London, extending the business to submarine cables around the turn of the century. Made all types of electrical cable, worked with the British Government during WWII. Acquired by Associated Electrical Industries in 1957. Sir Henry Morton Stanley, 1841-1904, explorer, journalist, soldier and colonial adminstrator, famous for his exploration of central Africa and his search for the missionary and fellow explorer David Livingstone greeting him with the famous line 'Dr.Livingstone, I presume?' VF and rare.
