Pierpont Morgan as trustee, guaranteed by the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Co., vignette of shipping, brown and black, with coupons, perforated cancelled. John Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913). Banker and philanthropist. Entered banking industry with his father's firm in 1856. Created his own company, J.P.Morgan & Co. by the turn of the century to become one of the most powerful in the world. Created United States Steel in 1901 and International Mercantile Marine a year later. A stabilising factor in the financial panic of 1907. EF.
