Essay
Handpainted essay by J.E.D. Johnson, staff artist at Waterlow & Sons, in a design not dissimilar to the issued stamp though with "postage & revenue" tablet at upper right above a portrait of the Queen facing forward, in blue-green and magenta with portions highlighted in Chinese white with simulated perforations and executed five times stamp-size on board (180x146mm.) with pale blue surround to the design. Unique and highly attractive. Photo
