1878 Bell Design, emergency printing on coloured paper, ½d. rose-red on pink vertical strips of six (2) and vertical pairs (2), all grossly mis-perforated and cut apart with scissors from the same sheet) on 1878 (30 Mar.) envelope registered from Geelong to Doyle's Creek, all cancelled by Barred Numeral "2", showing superb 22mm. "registered/geelong" c.d.s. (earliest recorded date), oval-framed "registered", Melbourne c.d.s. (1.4), manuscript "Try West Maitland" (deleted) and "Try Sydney", on reverse, West Maitland (5.4) and Sydney (4.4 and 8.5). Undeliverable and forwarded back to Melbourne where 11 May datestamp applied. A lovely cover. Photo
