Anglo-Saxon England, Primary Phase (680-710), Sceat, Series O, type 57 [?], Imitative, bust right, swept back hair, extended nose or possibly helmet with nasal, projecting lips, no neck, sloping shoulders, within beaded circle broken by bust, two pellets behind, beaded border, rev. monster in linear style left, extended gaping jaws, raised trefoil tail, mane left, pellet below jaws and legs, 1.11g, 270° (SL 107-30, plate coin; SCBI 69, 813 this coin), lightly waterworn and porous, otherwise almost very fine and extremely rare
