1857 (12 Feb.) opened-out stampless envelope to Havana, Cuba "Per Steamer" bearing a superb strike of the Wrexham tall crown/"registered" in red, several changes in rate marks from "Pd 1/2½" to "1/6½" and finally "2/", there is also a large "19"; the reverse with open circle Wrexham despatch c.d.s. in blue and London transit (13.2). There is some soiling, particularly on the flap on the reverse and the paper a little aged.


An important cover which is the earliest known registered letter to the West Indies and Cuba
